1.     Life is a journey

Living near the ocean, I often go for walks along beaches or tidal rivers. The water continually reminds me that life is in constant motion and change.Helpful for trust, acceptance, letting go, etc.

 2.     Good Ol Friends

Being single has both pros and cons. One blessing is spending more time with friends who become like family. One evening driving back from my dear friends home, these grateful words came to mind, and a tune soon with them.

3.     I’ll Buy Me a Harp

My great aunt Bessie would often joyfully recite this poem to my siblings and me. I hope she can hear it now as the song. She was not only a prolific writer of poems, but a masterful teacher who loved children. We will always remember her wit, love, and the mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

4.     Spring is Here Again

New England winters are too cold and long! When we finally get to go outdoors with lighter clothing, and sunset is not before supper, you can feel collective sighs of relief, and hear hopes and plans for all kinds of activities.

5.     Everything in its Place

Clutter! We all have some, to some degree! For me it’s a constant battle. I often procrastinate, or rationalize that my mind is on higher matters, but let’s face it, there comes the time we all got to start “pickin up’ and cleanin’ up.”

6.     Angels in the Snow

Shortly after the 9/11 tragedy, my friend Ivan Kamalic, an artist, wrote a poem based on his painting of the Twin Towers, which included snow angels made by children nearby. He asked me to write a song using his poem; I hope that I have captured some of his mood, especially his tender respect for children and all works of art in this universe.

7.     Winter Stillness

January of 2009. I was on a long stretch of highway in Canada, on my way to Michigan to record my first CD. The landscape was barren, and almost boring, until I began to look at the trees more closely and discover a message and beauty for this season. Words in Melody came quickly.

 8.     Where You Lead

I was asked by friend to write a song for her ordination. Despite times of wrestling, brokenness and seeking (no one is exempt), this song tells of my own conviction about God as the Spirit of goodness, grace, and transforming power, available to us all.

 9.     On My Way

A song for a recent graduate, leaving the nest, who wants needed Dad’s hands to come along on a hunger walk. Precious memories. Courage to grow. Grace give back.

10.  Love Is Ever New

I believe this wholeheartedly! Friends and family are given to each of us as support and joy for life’s journeys. This song is about Lynn and me, from meeting, to dating, to conviction and trust and we will love for lifetime

With Gratitudes

As I record this CD, I’m in midlife and about to wed! So I dedicate this album to my sweetheart Lynn, who already has been so supportive of the musical part of my life. I look forward to sharing the rest of “life’s journeys” with Lynn, and trust that our love will only grow and be “ever new”.

What a gift to work again with Ken Meema. He is not only a world-class musician with amazing creativity and energy, but also a wise mentor and friend.

Thanks to family, friends, and Belleville Church, who have listened to many of my songs, sometimes in their rough stages. Nothing like encouragement to continue to grow in one’s gifts!

Thanks again to Brier Patch Music family four their CD production skills, and for welcoming me into their home.
